Host: “Let’s take a go searching the Eastern Conference here quickly. I do know we’re getting closer to the primary stage of the trade deadline. Then the trade deadline coming when everybody comes back from the Olympics. But we’re already in trade bait mode, boards and who can move and who can’t move.
NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres Must Re-Sign Alex Tuch
Such an interesting team straight away is the Pittsburgh Penguins, who everybody thought were going to be selling off assets at this time limit, with 9 UFAs on their roster. But is it possible for the Penguins to grow to be buyers by some means, regardless that they could need to do away with a few of their UFAs?”
Anthony Di Marco: “I mean, it’s such a weird season, Sean, that, like, potentially you can be buyers and sellers. Like, look, if I used to be a betting man, I’d say that they were just going to roll with what they’ve the Penguins, that’s. Just due to the nature of where they’re at organizationally.
And possibly you hang on to your individual players, and also you call them like those own rentals. Like, hang on to Kevin Hayes, hang on to Anthony Mantha, hang on to Evgeni Malkin, Connor Clifton, and what have you ever.
But I just, I don’t know if I could see Kyle Dubas actually going out in the marketplace and spending assets. For the primary time in what looks like eternally, the Penguins are well arrange within the draft.
They’ll have their first-round pick in each of the subsequent two or three years, somewhat than two second- and two third-round picks in each of the subsequent three years. So I just, I believe that they’ve done enough, the roster that’s, to inform Kyle Dubas, okay, don’t mess with what’s working, or at the least what’s treading water.
NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Dallas Stars
But I just, I can’t see him going out and attempting to, like, unseed the cabinet on a team that, look it’s the Metropolitan Division, so you can see a plausible scenario where they go to the second or third round, but realistically, that is nothing greater than only a playoff team at best.”
