Rating Ilia Topuria within the featherweight GOAT list is difficult but as Robert Whittaker identified, he may not have been there for very long but he did beat two of the opposite contenders for the highest spot.
Results against other GOAT candidates are certainly one of the most important aspects that works against Jose Aldo’s claim to still be the best that the division has ever seen.
The Brazilian legend has probably the most title defenses and is undoubtedly probably the greatest fighters the Octagon has ever seen.
Aldo’s issue is that he was beaten by Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Conor McGregor and was never capable of get any of those losses back.
