Actor Sahil Anand has spoken about his decision to be a part of the upcoming film Godaan, which is about to release in theatres on 6 February 2026. The film revolves around cows, a subject that isn’t explored in mainstream Indian cinema, and goals to spotlight their cultural and social importance.
Sahil Anand Opens Up On Filming His Next Film Godaan
Sharing his thoughts, Sahil said the concept stayed with him from the very first narration, “What struck me immediately was the topic of the cow. In today’s generation, especially amongst Gen Z, awareness in regards to the importance of cows is slowly fading. We’re forgetting values that were once a vital a part of our lives.”
He explained that cows have traditionally played a major role in Indian households, each spiritually and practically. There are lots of advantages connected to cows, from medicines to exploit and products like paneer. Earlier, people treated cows with care and respect.
Today, we regularly see them abandoned on roads, and no one seems to care, Sahil shared. The actor added that certainly one of the largest reasons he said yes to the film was that such stories are rarely told. “I truthfully don’t remember seeing a recent film focused on cows. That made this project essential for me. It felt like the fitting time to remind people, especially the younger generation, about why cows have at all times mattered in our society,” he said.
Known for selecting diverse projects from Student of the 12 months and Babloo Glad Hai, Banned, to schizophrenia based short film Paatr, Sahil Anand has steadily built a popularity for experimenting with different genres and subjects.
