After a blockbuster bounce back win at UFC 325 this past weekend, Mauricio Ruffy shot for the celebrities along with his post-fight callout.
This past Saturday at UFC 325, exciting lightweight striker Mauricio Ruffy returned to the cage when he took on Rafael Fiziev in a blockbuster matchup.
After spending his camp with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, taking a break from The Fighting Nerds, the 29-year-old bounced back with a wild win, knocking Fiziev out within the second round.
And following his incredible performance, the Brazilian shot for the celebrities when he called out Conor McGregor and Paddy Pimblett in his post-fight interview.

Ruffy reveals talks began for a possible UFC White House clash against McGregor
Although Ruffy’s callout can have seemed audacious as a consequence of the very fact he’s ranked 14th within the division, he’ll likely climb significantly up the division along with his win over the number nine ranked ‘Ataman’.
And with Pimblett coming off the back of a loss to Justin Gaethje, the number five ranked lightweight might want to fight below himself within the rankings.
Despite the indisputable fact that McGregor hasn’t fought in over five years, he’s seemingly gearing up for a comeback on the UFC White House event which is scheduled for June 14.
And even though it seemed as if he would finally settle his feud with Michael Chandler, that fight was recently shut down by Dana White who revealed it’s prior to now.
Just hours after his clash in Sydney, Ruffy revealed that his name was mentioned in conversations between the UFC brass when discussing options for McGregor, potentially explaining his post-fight callout.
“It really gave the impression of (a fight against) Conor was a distant dream but situations have reached our ears here regarding the fight he would really like to have,” Ruffy told Laerte Viana.
“Yes (McGregor mentioned my name), he made comments about me fighting him. He said that two strikers of that very high level would sell rather more. It will be something closer to what he’s trying to herald his comeback.
“To not fight a man who’s coming off several losses and all of that. He desires to do a fight against a man that’s going to drive the audience crazy. And I said ‘Wow.’ I agreed instantly. I said ‘100%, count me in. Let’s go.’ He specifically mentioned my name (in talks), I heard he did.”
Ruffy was in comparison with a ‘young Conor McGregor’ when he first fought within the UFC
At this point it is comparatively unclear who ‘The Notorious’ will fight in his comeback, so all options appear to be live.
And with Ruffy having previously been in comparison with McGregor in his early UFC fights, a clash between the 2 would likely be received extremely well by fans.
