Young Indian cricketer Ayush Mhatre was recently honoured with a special signed jersey by India legend Sachin Tendulkar following India’s title-winning campaign on the U-19 World Cup 2026. Leading from the front, Ayush captained India to a memorable victory over England in the ultimate held on February 6 in Harare.
Batting first within the decider, India piled up a frightening 411/9 of their 50 overs, powered by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls. Skipper Ayush Mhatre also played a vital role with a composed 53 off 51 deliveries. England, in reply, were dismissed for 311, handing India a commanding 100-run win.
On Monday, February 9, Ayush took to Instagram to share glimpses from a special visit to Sachin Tendulkar’s residence, where the young captain was presented with the batting great’s iconic Test jersey. Ayush’s family was also present in the course of the memorable moment. He captioned the post:
“I grew up watching you thru a screen. Today, I stand at your private home, holding a chunk of your journey in my hands. Thanks, Sir, for this honour. I’ll carry this with the identical respect you carried Indian cricket for years. 🇮🇳🙏.”
Ayush Mhatre Set To Represent CSK In IPL 2026
After his stellar performance within the U-19 World Cup 2026, Ayush Mhatre is about to don the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey in IPL 2026, which kicks off on March 26. Within the previous 2025 season, he joined CSK as a substitute for captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who needed to step out mid-tournament on account of injury.
The correct-handed batsman played seven matches, amassing 240 runs at a mean of 34.28 and a strike rate of 188.97, including a top rating of 94 and one half-century. Within the upcoming season, Ayush shall be trying to carry forward his momentum and play a key role in CSK’s quest for a sixth IPL title.
