Michael Carrick insists Benjamin Sesko is able to ‘kick on’ in his Manchester United profession after his sensible equaliser against West Ham.
West Ham were just minutes away from an enormous win over United on the London Stadium when substitute Sesko scored an excellent injury-time equaliser.
Relegation-battlers West Ham led through Tomas Soucek’s neat finish shortly after a quiet first half and seemed to be on the verge of three points of their bid to avoid relegation.
But Sesko turned home Bryan Mbeumo’s cross with a implausible finish to earn Manchester United some extent and maintain Carrick’s unbeaten record as caretaker manager.

‘He’s been doing it in training for us as well so it’s not surprising to be honest. It’s what he’s does, it’s what he’s good at.

Asked whether he was tempted to begin Sesko against West Ham and if that may very well be an option going forward, Carrick added: ‘It’s all the time in regards to the balance.

‘We wanted the three points to go closer and closer but we’ve got to take positives. There are still so many games.
‘If we play like this 5 – 6 games we are going to win them and get out of relegation. We’re getting closer and stepping into the correct direction.
‘You may see all fans are with us because all of us have one job and one goal – to be within the Premier League next season.’
Attributable to being knocked out of the FA Cup, Manchester United now have almost two weeks off before returning to Premier League motion against Everton.
West Ham, meanwhile, face League One strugglers Burton Albion on Saturday as they give the impression of being to book their place in the subsequent round of the FA Cup.
