India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was awarded the dressing room’s Impact Player of the Match medal following the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against Namibia in Delhi. Invited to deliver a speech, Kishan kept it transient, simply saying, “Well done, guys!”
His short remark prompted captain Suryakumar Yadav to jokingly comment that the speech nearly brought him to tears. Prior to naming Kishan because the Impact Player for the Namibia game, head coach Gautam Gambhir had also commended the team’s positive batting intent.

Kishan played a key role with the bat, producing a briliant 61 off just 24 balls as India posted 209/9 of their 20 overs. The left-hander earned his recall to the national side at first of the season after a two-year gap, following outstanding performances in domestic cricket.
After impressing together with his batting display against Latest Zealand, Kishan was promoted to open alongside Abhishek Sharma for the continuing T20 World Cup. Since his comeback, the southpaw has averaged over 49 at a remarkable strike rate of 222.55, registering one century and two half-centuries in six T20Is.

Ishan Kishan admitted that since rejoining the Indian team, he has adopted a more serious and disciplined approach towards his cricket as an alternative of merely having fun with the moment. The 27-year-old faced multiple challenges following his previous appearance for India in December 2023 before making his comeback this season.
“I believe I’m a modified man now, to be honest. I don’t get into it an excessive amount of, but I do enjoy jokes and the whole lot. I do it, but earlier I used to do it 24×7, but now it’s just two-three hours of it. So I’m just focusing more on batting and my wicket-keeping, which goes to assist the team and which goes to assist me. All the pieces is secondary,” said Kishan after the Nambia clash (via NDTV).
