Liverpool legend Didi Hamann believes Arsenal won’t win the quadruple this season and claims Bayern Munich would get the higher of Mikel Arteta’s side within the Champions League knockouts.

Despite being held to a 1-1 draw against Brentford on Thursday, Arsenal still hold a four-point lead over Manchester City at the highest of the Premier League table.

And in addition to their performances within the league, the Gunners have also managed to compete with great success on all other fronts within the three cup competitions.

A two-legged win over Chelsea saw Arsenal booked their place within the Carabao Cup final, where they are going to face Manchester City next month.

And within the Champions League, Arsenal finished top of the league phase and can play considered one of Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos, Atalanta or Bayer Leverkusen within the round of 16.

Arteta’s side will fancy their possibilities of progressing to the following round of the FA Cup, too, with the Gunners set to host League One side Wigan Athletic within the competition’s fourth round this weekend.

But Hamann believes the north London club will fall short of their quest for the historic treble, and tipped Bayern to avenge their Champions League defeat to Arsenal from earlier within the season if each teams meet within the knockouts.

‘Often up to now, Bayern have at all times got the higher of Arsenal,’ he told Thunderpick. ‘So, I feel that was considered one of the explanation why Arsenal was desperate to point out them, you recognize, this yr is our yr.

‘Bayern have dropped just a few points within the last two weeks. Against Hoffenheim, there was an early sending off, and Hoffenheim hit the crossbar and had three clear-cut probabilities. They need to have been ahead at half-time.

‘So Bayern Munich usually are not firing as they did within the autumn. But in the event that they do get back to their form, I might favour Bayern Munich over two games.

‘However it can be a incredible game because obviously the primary game was breathtaking.’

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen feels similarly about Arsenal’s quadruple hopes, saying earlier this month: ‘No, I don’t think so but I feel they’re special, they’re a really strong side, they’re very efficient.

‘I feel they may win the Carabao Cup, absolutely they may after which the opposite two are going to be tough.

‘All the opposite teams are going to be specializing in the FA Cup much more now since the league is nearly over. It’s going to salvage their season in order that they’ll be putting strong teams out.

‘Then there’s the Champions League, that may very well be anybody’s, that’s really open this yr.’
