Suryakumar Yadav & Co scripted one other glorious chapter to the history of cricketing rivalry with Pakistan. India defeated their arch-rivals by 61 runs on Sunday in Colombo, extending their winning-record to eight within the history of T20 World Cups.
Wishes pour in on social media as India stormed into the Super 8s after mauling Pakistan. Meanwhile, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi congratulated Team India for his or her exemplary performance on the sphere. He also praised head coach Gautam Gambhir for his ‘stewardship’.
“Congratulations to Team India on its win against Pakistan as expected within the @cricketworldcup in Colombo and to @GautamGambhir for his stewardship,” Modi wrote on X.
Head coach Gambhir also responded gracefully and wrote, “Thanks lots on your wishes!”
Ishan Kishan mixed flair with authority to script a match-defining 77 off 40 balls as India registered a convincing 61-run win over Pakistan of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash on Sunday. Batting first on a rather two-paced R Premadasa Stadium track, India rode on Kishan’s controlled aggression to post a competitive 175/7, a complete that all the time looked barely above par given the conditions.
Kishan dominated the center overs with crisp strokeplay, combining clean hitting with clever placement to maintain the scoreboard ticking when the pitch wasn’t exactly batter-friendly. His knock ensured India never lost momentum despite a number of quick wickets towards the back end.
Pakistan’s chase, nevertheless, never really took off. Jasprit Bumrah struck with early precision while Hardik Pandya provided the right support act, denting the highest order and putting immediate pressure on the opposition. The early departure of skipper Babar Azam further tilted the sport India’s way.
With the bowlers maintaining control through the center overs, Pakistan were eventually bundled out for 114, sealing India’s Super Eight qualification in emphatic fashion.
