Jurgen Klopp rejected two Premier League giants after leaving Liverpool, says agent | Football

Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has claimed each Chelsea and Manchester United made unsuccessful approaches to rent the German after his departure at Liverpool.

There was shock and surprise as Klopp announced he could be leaving Liverpool on the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign following nine years in the recent seat at Anfield.

After what had been a difficult period for the club, Klopp steered the Merseyside giants to a complete of eight pieces of silverware, including the Champions League trophy in 2019 and the Premier League title the next season.

The extraordinary era of success cemented Klopp’s place amongst Liverpool’s greatest-ever and hottest managers alongside the likes of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

After stepping down from his post with the Reds, the 58-year-old took on a job because the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull group, overseeing their international network of clubs, including RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, as an advisor.

Klopp has kept his cards near his chest with regards to his future plans and has repeatedly gone on record saying he would never manage one other team in England apart from Liverpool.

Nevertheless, this didn’t stop two of Liverpool’s biggest rivals trying their luck with Klopp before he began work with Red Bull back in January 2025.

‘Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he wouldn’t coach some other club in England. These inquiries keep coming,’ Klopp’s trusted advisor Kosicke told Transfermarkt.

‘He’s extremely blissful with what he’s achieved.

‘It’s still wonderful to go down in history as one in all the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.’

In line with Sky Sports, each Chelsea and Manchester United have denied these claims made by Kosicke.

In addition to Chelsea and United, there have been also offers for Klopp to administer each america and the England national team.

‘Perhaps in some unspecified time in the future he’ll say he must smell the locker room again. But in the meanwhile he’s very, very blissful in his role,’ Kosicke added.

‘Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the USA or England.

‘Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.’

Will Jurgen Klopp manage Liverpool again?

Back in October, Klopp suggested it was ‘theoretically possible’ that he could someday return to administer Liverpool for a second spell.

However it’s clear the previous Borussia Dortmund and Mainz boss has no immediate ambitions to re-enter the pressure cooker that’s elite-level management.

‘I said I won’t ever coach one other team, a distinct team, in England. So which means if then it’s Liverpool … yeah. Theoretically it’s possible,’ Klopp said on The Diary of a CEO podcast.

‘I’m 58, which means I could make the choice in a couple of years, I don’t know.

‘Do I even have to make the choice today? Then I won’t coach again.

‘But thank God, I don’t have to do this. I can just see what the long run brings.’
