McKenzie: “You’re thinking that Owen Tippett could be made available in a trade?”

Johnston: “It’s a matter. You understand, I don’t think Philadelphia is fully landed on their direction yet. And, you understand, look, they’re not in a spot where they feel they need to trade anyone. I do know that, that, you understand they need to be, they need to be growing the roster up.

But, you understand, it’s been a tumultuous couple weeks leading into the break. I actually think, reflecting on the teams, you understand, there won’t be many NHL teams that may gain advantage more from the break than Philadelphia. Probably just with a number of the smoke billing around them. You understand, other teams, I’d say the identical thing, who’ve a pile of injuries, it’s just a chance to rest some bodies and minds and every thing.

But, you understand, I don’t know yet what way Philadelphia goes to go, and I don’t think they know which way they’re going to go at this deadline. Not suggesting they’re going to change into a giant buyer, but to what degree do they sell? What do they consider?

You understand, I’d be surprised if we’re talking about Tippet being moved by the deadline, but I can also’t rule it out entirely, because, you understand, I do think they need to, you understand that clearly, a part of the response to every thing that’s gone on is the expectations are up. They usually have to search out a strategy to take steps forward as a corporation. And so sometimes to do this, you could have to think about moving out players which were pretty productive for you, too.”
