Alexander Ovechkin is the highest scoring left winger who’s with out a contract for next season, but it would be the Washington Capitals or retirement for him. He’s not going to play for one more organization.
There are not any ‘star’ left wingers going to be hitting free agency on July 1st. There are some middle-six forwards who will generate some interest for teams on the lookout for depth scoring. For contending teams, these may be third-line players.
It’s an older group when taking a look at the highest scorers to date this season, with half of top 10 being of their mid-30s or older.
