Dietmar Hamann has backed a former Manchester United managerial goal to interchange Liam Rosenior as Chelsea boss.

Rosenior arrived at Stamford Bridge last month after Enzo Maresca, who led Chelsea to the Club World Cup trophy, was relieved of his duties.

Eyebrows were raised when Rosenior was hired given his limited previous experience at French side Strasbourg and Championship outfit Hull City.

But Chelsea have largely impressed under the 41-year-old former Premier League player, winning eight of their 12 games since Maresca’s departure.

Chelsea’s major real setback under Rosenior got here within the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, with Arsenal progressing to the ultimate courtesy of a 4-2 win on aggregate.

However the Blues also threw away a two-goal lead to attract 2-2 with Leeds United last week and dropped more points at home on Saturday in a 1-1 draw with relegation-battlers Burnley.

Despite Rosenior’s mostly promising start as Chelsea manager, Emmanuel Petit recently claimed he could be sacked inside the subsequent 12 months.

Hamann has also suggested there may very well be a change within the Stamford Bridge hot-seat, predicting Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will find yourself in west London.

Simeone, 55, has been answerable for Atletico for 15 years, winning two La Liga titles, two Europa Leagues and reaching two Champions League finals in that point.

‘I can see Diego Simeone at Chelsea,’ Hamann told Thunderpick. ‘I believe that’s probably where he’d go.

‘Though Chelsea won the Club World Cup, I believe they’ve lacked a little bit of steel in recent times and I believe they’ve made excuses too easily and too quickly.

‘If it were to be Simeone’s last season at Atletico, I don’t think we’d see him for six or twelve months because, in case you have a look at him on the touchline, I believe that what’s it, 15 years now? I believe it might have taken lots out of him.

‘But what a personality. I’d like to see him within the Premier League. You already know, after he’d been to Atletico, he won’t go to Real. I can’t see him at Barcelona. I’m unsure he fancies Saudi Arabia.

‘I believe there’s a superb likelihood we’ll see him within the Premier League. What a incredible story it might be.

‘Liverpool? You already know, when Arne Slot says style is more vital than results, then obviously it’s quite the other with him because he doesn’t care how he wins games, which I like.

‘That is why I like him because, I believe once I was at Liverpool, I believe we played a bit that way. There have been quite a number of teams higher equipped than us.

‘After which you’ve to search out a solution to win games. He went to 2 Champions League finals. He was very unlucky to not win the one. I believe it was in Cardiff on the time.

‘People speak about style, but obviously he’s got a certain group of players and that is how he wants it.

‘If he involves Liverpool and he’s got some technical players, who’s to say he’s not going to inform them to offer the ball back to the opposition and check out to tackle them. So, yeah, I wouldn’t rule anything out.’

Over the past six months each Gary Neville and Roy Keane have beneficial Simeone for the Manchester United job.

‘It might be improper of me to call someone,’ Neville told Sky Sports. ‘There are coaches that I like. I like Tuchel, I like Simeone at Atletico Madrid, I like Valverde, I believe he’s a incredible coach.

‘But are there really opportunities for Manchester United to exit and get these coaches? I don’t know. I do not know.’

United are preparing to appoint Ruben Amorim’s everlasting alternative after sacking the previous Sporting boss last month.

Michael Carrick is the frontrunner for the job after overseeing a resurgence since returning to Old Trafford as caretaker manager.
