The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has entered its second phase with the Super Eights round getting underway on Saturday night in Colombo. Nevertheless, rain gods had the ultimate say on the opening night with the clash between Latest Zealand and Pakistan abandoned after the toss. The tournament continues today with a double-header – co-hosts Sri Lanka tackle England while title holders India run into familiar foes South Africa.
India booked their Super Eights berth with 4 wins out of 4, as was the case with South Africa. The 2 opponents have clashed on this tournament before, most famously within the finale of the 2024 T20 World Cup when India, down and out at one stage, forced their way back within the dying stages to finish a title triumph for the ages – improving their head-to-head record to 5-2 within the World Cups.
Here’s a ready reckoner on India’s latest T20 World Cup opponent.
