Sean O’Malley reacts to Conor Benn’s $15m Zuffa Boxing signing: ‘I don’t know who he’s’

UFC star Sean O’Malley doubts that Conor Benn will earn $15 million fighting in Zuffa Boxing, claiming that he isn’t a large enough name.

Just a number of days ago, shocking news hit the combat sports world when it was announced that Dana White had signed the British boxer to Zuffa Boxing.

Not only was the signing hugely substantial since it was just the second big name signing Zuffa Boxing has made thus far, but in addition since it was claimed that ‘The Destroyer’ will make $15 million for only one fight.

Despite the reports of the whopping figure attached to his signing, UFC star Sean O’Malley has doubted the figure of Conor Benn‘s contract.

Sean O’Malley questions the accuracy of Conor Benn’s $15 million Zuffa Boxing contract

Despite being 24-1 in his skilled boxing profession and once being considered a top prospect, unfortunately for Benn, he’s most well-known worldwide for failing a drug test in 2022.

Nonetheless, this past November, ‘The Destroyer’ scored the largest win of his profession to this point against his longtime rival, Chris Eubank Jr, which catapulted his name overnight.

The previous UFC bantamweight champion, O’Malley, though, doubts the legitimacy of the reported $15 million figure, claiming that Benn isn’t a large enough name to warrant such an enormous contract.

“For me, it’s so hard to imagine, I did see and I heard it, I’ve been told, but I’m like, that doesn’t mean it’s true,” O’Malley said within the latest episode of his podcast.

“I don’t know, it could thoroughly be true. I can’t imagine it being true, Zuffa Boxing, it’s like, they’re paying out ($15 million), I don’t even know who Conor Benn is.

“Supposedly he’s like, a reasonably large name in boxing but I’ve never f—— heard of him, I’ve never heard of him.

“I could see it being out of an ego thing (by Dana White), I assume as a business thing too you’re bringing in a legit guy.

“In the event that they really paid this Conor Benn guy $15 million, it’s crazy how you’ll be able to just put in a lot work within the UFC, construct this name, create this character, be this star and I’m not making f—— $15 million a fight.”

Who will Conor Benn fight in his Zuffa Boxing debut?

This past weekend, Benn called out fellow boxing star Ryan Garcia for a WBC world welterweight title fight, despite the indisputable fact that Zuffa Boxing won’t recognise the sanctioning bodies.

Despite that, Dana White and the Zuffa Boxing brass may take a look at the potential of putting that fight together for a Zuffa Boxing belt.
