Jesse Lingard is in advanced talks to hitch Brazilian side Corinthians, in response to reports in Brazil.

The previous Manchester United midfielder has been with no club since leaving South Korean side FC Seoul in December.

Lingard had held talks with Brazilian club Remo, who’re back within the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A for the primary time in 31 years.

Nonetheless, ESPN Brasil and Globo each report that Lingard is now closing in on a move to Corinthians until the top of the season.

Corinthians have agreed a contract with the 33-year-old and are hoping to finalise a deal imminently.

The move will see Lingard link up together with his former United teammate Memphis Depay, who scored 12 goals in 51 appearances for Corinthians last season.

Corinthians endured a difficult league campaign last season as they finished thirteenth in Serie A, nevertheless, they won each the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil, which secured their qualification for this 12 months’s Copa Libertadores.

After leaving FC Seoul in December, Lingard wrote: ‘This wasn’t a straightforward decision. My time in South Korea has been unbelievable — the football, the atmosphere, and the eagerness around this club have been top-class. The love, support and the appreciation you will have shown towards me for these last 2 years has been truly amazing.

‘Playing football here has been an unforgettable experience and one I’ll all the time value.

‘I need to thank FC Seoul, my teammates, the staff, and everybody associated on the club for trusting me and welcoming me from day one. I’ll all the time be pleased about the chance to play for such a large club.’
