Shia LaBeouf has been arrested again in Latest Orleans.
In accordance with Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records, LaBeouf was taken into custody Saturday and charged with one additional misdemeanor count of straightforward battery.
The Transformers star’s attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, said that after learning Latest Orleans police had issued a brand new arrest warrant Friday, LaBeouf voluntarily turned himself in to the Orleans Parish jail, based on the Associated Press.
“No regular person can be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanor incident,” Chervinsky said. “Just as he doesn’t deserve preferential treatment, Mr. LaBeouf also doesn’t should be treated more harshly by the police and courts simply because he’s a public figure.”
The legal trouble began during Mardi Gras earlier this month. LaBeouf was arrested Feb. 17 following an altercation at R Bar within the Faubourg Marigny. Authorities said he became aggressive and allegedly fought with two men, each of whom told police he assaulted them.
LaBeouf is accused of punching one bartender multiple times and striking one other within the face. He also allegedly shouted homophobic slurs throughout the incident. The Hollywood Reporter reported details of the altercation on the time.
LaBeouf was later taken to a neighborhood hospital for undisclosed injuries. After being released, he was formally charged with two counts of straightforward battery.
In an interview with YouTuber Andrew Callaghan released Saturday morning, the 39-year-old actor addressed what he said led to his initial arrest and discussed his recent behavior.
“It’s not nice to harm people ever. It’s fucking lame. People got hurt. I got to cope with that. I’mma cope with that in full. I’ll eat all of it,” he said. “It was on me. It’s not on them. It’s on me. I tousled.”
When asked if he takes responsibility, LaBeouf responded, “Definitely. Yeah. 1,000 percent.”
He added, “My side is that this — my behavior, bullshit. I got to cope with that. Does that mean I got to go to rehab again? I’m just not into it, bro. I don’t think my answers are there. If I genuinely did, I’d go. I don’t think I actually have a drinking problem. I believe I actually have a unique problem, and I’m going to deal with it.”
The Fury actor said he believes he has a “small man complex,” explaining, “I believe it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking. That’s where I’m at now on my journey, and I’m attempting to navigate it.”
When asked what triggered his anger, LaBeouf said, “I’ll be honest with you, big gay persons are scary to me. I’m standing by myself, and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry if that’s homophobic. Then I’m that.”
Asked whether that situation happens often, he said it occurred just once. “That’s why I got arrested,” he said.
LaBeouf concluded, “I’m flawed for touching anyone, ever. And that’s the top of my statement on this whole shit.”
