From Longtime Friends To Forger: Marvin Sapp & Dr. La’Boris Cole Embrace Their Next Chapter
While speaking with Essence, Marvin Sapp broke down his history with La’Boris Cole, PhD, plus how he pulled off his smooth proposal. The Gospel Python flipped her birthday into an entire surprise moment. He walked in with Cole pondering they were just celebrating her, but their family waited inside, ready for the large reveal. Right then and there, he dropped to at least one knee and popped the large query. Sapp shared that he and La’Boris built a friendship that lasted over a decade before they decided to take things to the following level. At first, they kept every part low-key. They protected each their friendship and the romance until they were certain of how they desired to move forward.
The ‘Never Would Have Made It’ hitmaker also opened up about life after losing his wife and manager, MaLinda Prince Sapp, to colon cancer in 2010. MaLinda’s tragic passing led him to navigate life as a widower, while also raising his three children. Years later, he officially decided to step back into the dating scene. During a 2022 interview with 98.9 Kiss FM of Lagos, Nigeria, Sapp said once he saw his children grow up and heal, he found his own strength again. That’s when he knew he felt able to construct a brand new life — and a brand new love with someone special.
“I’m just being a student on this season and really attempting to learn how one can navigate, how one can take care of it. Prayerfully, hopefully, someday I’ll find her, and we’ll live out the remaining of our days and make them one of the best of our days,” Sapp reportedly explained on the time.

When it got here to finding “the one,” La’Boris turned out to be that for Marvin Sapp. Essence noted that Cole works as a therapist and a ministry leader. She founded and runs the Born 2 Danz Worship Art Conference and in addition leads Cole Associates & Counselors of Texas, a behavioral health practice. Her mission in all her work is to assist people heal and see their value.
