Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has made a shocking admission about Pakistan cricket. In keeping with Amir, who retired from international cricket in June 2024 following Pakistan’s exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, there isn’t talent in Pakistan cricket at present times. In keeping with him, teams like Australia, Latest Zealand and England don’t even take Pakistan seriously now, and to prove his point, he stated that these overseas countries don’t even field their full-strength team while playing against Pakistan.
Speaking on Geo’s Haarna Mana Hai show on Sunday following the conclusion of the Super 8s round of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Amir, when asked about his impression of talent in Pakistan cricket, stated, “Let me let you know my honest opinion. Forget in regards to the rest. I personally am saying that we don’t have talent. Jo abhi khel rahe hai, vo (talent) nahi hai.”
Muhammad Amir said, “We don’t have real talent. The present players aren’t real talent. Have a look at how foreign teams treat Pakistan. When Australia or England tour us, they send debutants or D teams and still beat us. That shows how seriously they take us.”pic.twitter.com/9qnT3XUY2N— Salman. (@TsMeSalman) March 1, 2026
“You may see when any team travels to Pakistan to play a house series against us, they don’t send their A-team. You may see how serious they take us. In the event that they feel that, yes, this can be a team, then they send their A-team. They send their A-team for all their debuts. If Latest Zealand goes to India, the entire team will go. If England goes, the entire team will go. If Australia goes, the entire team will go. Similarly, in the event that they come, they send their A-team. Yes. So, it shows how serious they take us,” he added.
Pakistan in T20 WC 2026
Pakistan played six matches in T20 World Cup 2026 under Salman Ali Agha’s leadership and managed to win 4. The Men in Green kicked off their campaign with a 3-wicket win over the Netherlands in Colombo after which defeated the USA by 31 runs, but of their third Group A match, Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat by 61 runs against arch-rivals India. Pakistan qualified for the Super 8s by getting the higher of Namibia by 102 runs on February 18.
Within the Super 8s, Pakistan’s first match against Latest Zealand got washed out resulting from rain, and of their second fixture against England, they suffered a defeat by 2 wickets. Pakistan needed to defeat Sri Lanka by at the least 65 runs of their third Super 8s match on Saturday to pip Latest Zealand in net run rate and qualify for the semifinals, but they failed to realize the target.
