With 22 games remaining within the season, the Vegas Golden Knights are still within the Pacific Division lead with 70 points. Their recent form, nonetheless, hasn’t been superb. They’ve lost seven of their past 10 games (two of which were defeats in extra time), and it’ll not help matters in anyway that they have been fielding a depleted roster, due to injuries and a few post-Winter Olympics repercussions.
Ahead of their Tuesday night clash against the Buffalo Sabres, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy said that Mark Stone is currently “day-to-day” on account of an upper-body injury, as per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The excellent news is that Cassidy didn’t outright rule out the veteran from potentially suiting up against the Sabres, but there will not be much reason to risk Stone’s health if he is not healthy enough to play.
Just so as to add even further to the Golden Knights’ concerns, Cassidy also noted that there was some kind of bug happening around within the locker room, with the likes of Shea Theodore, Mitch Marner, and one other player coping with a type of “illness”.
The Golden Knights should err on the side of caution, but not an excessive amount of considering that they should get back to winning ways what with the Anaheim Geese, Seattle Kraken, and Edmonton Oilers respiratory down their necks.
Golden Knights fans react to team’s injury problems
Golden Knights fans feel as if the team is coping with illness from their players getting back from Winter Olympics duties.
“FWIW, I used to be told MacKinnon and one other player were pretty sick towards the top of the Olympics. Losing sucks, but he looked white as a ghost through the medal presentation,” X user @NateInVegas wrote.
“Werenski can be out tonight, sick,” @pugsoverhumans added.
“Theodore and Marner each represented Canada on the Olympics. Your regular reminder that the NHL stopped reporting Covid cases and outbreaks after the 2021-22 season,” @InspiredAquaCA furthered.
