Ayesha Khan Opens Up On Body Shaming, Receiving R*pe Threats

On the We The Women event, Ayesha revealed that she was imagined to be the second lead in a T-Series song while she was in Class XII, but was replaced just an evening before the shoot because she was considered “fat.” When asked if she ever felt pressured to evolve to certain beauty standards, she admitted that it took her time to feel confident about her appearance.

She expressed, “I’m almost day-after-day s*xualised for my body on Instagram. I wear a traditional top; people have an issue, I wear skirts, people have an issue. I actually have to think before posting. If I actually have to think before wearing something or wanting to post something, simply because another person goes to s*xualise me, it’s, after all, a really sad space to be in. I don’t know, there’s a really thin line I keep struggling, sometimes I feel I’ll post whatever I would like, but other times I’m not within the mood to see any comments telling me whatever they might have done to me in the event that they had a likelihood.”

She further added, “Because you’re a possible r*pist for those who had the strength or you would do what you’re saying, you’ll do it. So it’s very scary that these are actual human beings around us. These usually are not just comments. I actually have had r*pe threats day-after-day. I so wish something strict could possibly be done about it. There are days when it triggers my wounds, scares me that if I weren’t this famous or powerful like I’m today, it could have happened.”
