England captain Harry Brook said on Tuesday (March 3) that a number of of his teammates wished to see India against them within the semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup. He said there shall be a ‘hell of a variety of pressure’ on each teams in the massive game on the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, admitting that it could be particularly difficult for his visitors to rise up to the loud Indian support.

India and England have each lost one match each within the World Cup. Brook and Co. are in higher form, having won five matches on the trot, including all three within the semi-final. The one team they lost to was the West Indies within the group stage, and India eliminated them in Sunday’s virtual quarterfinal in Kolkata.

“We’re all really excited,” Brook told Sky Sports. “I actually have already heard a number of lads say they desired to play India anyway. It will be an enormous occasion with a hell of a variety of pressure for either side. India obviously have a hell of a variety of support and I’m unsure there are going to be many individuals behind us. It’s going to be loud. Hopefully, we are able to play our greatest cricket,” he added.

This might be the third consecutive time India and England will meet in a T20 World Cup semi-final. In 2022, the English secured an enormous 10-wicket win, with Jos Buttler scoring an unbeaten 80 (49) and Alex Hales contributing 86 (47). India returned the favor within the 2024 edition, reaching the ultimate with an enormous 68-run win, where the Three Lions were bowled out for a paltry 103.

Leave Jos Alone

Probably the one concern for England going into this clash is Buttler’s lack of runs. He has managed only 62 in seven innings at 8.86 with a strike-rate of 106.90.

But Brook has offered his complete support to the previous skipper.

“I believe Jos ought to be left alone. He’s among the finest players to have ever played the sport and I can see him coming good. It’s awesome other lads have been in a position to step up. There have been performances throughout. Now we have so many powerful players in the highest seven that if one comes off, the opposition are scratching their heads and don’t really know where to go,” he said.
