Manchester United have been urged to hijack Arsenal’s transfer interest in Anthony Gordon and produce the Newcastle forward to Old Trafford.
While scoring only three goals within the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side this season, Gordon has been firing on all cylinders within the Champions League.
4 goals in the primary leg of Newcastle’s play-off tie with Qarabag brought his tally to 10 in as many games in Europe for his club this season.
And that sensational form on the continent appears to have caught the eye of several English clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool were linked with a move for Gordon in previous summers, but recent reports suggest that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the £95million-rated forward in the summertime.
Mikel Arteta is alleged to be a keen admirer of Gordon, and sees him as the proper candidate to clean up his options on the left wing.
Former Gunners star Anders Limpar is a giant fan of Gordon, too, and believes he has the qualities to shine under Arteta, but isn’t convinced that Arsenal will pull the trigger on the deal in the summertime.

‘It is hard for me to say, because I actually like Martinelli,’ he told Bettingsidor.se when asked about Arsenal’s potential move for Gordon.
‘His work rate is incredible. He’s so loyal to the team and everybody wants him to create goals or assists, but he’s the one first back defending.
‘He’s so loyal, but Trossard has been amazing and has been playing as an alternative of him. Personally, I believe Arteta told Trossard that he wanted him to sign a brand new contract, but that it wasn’t the plan that he should play.

‘Martinelli was on the approach to Saudi Arabia after which Arsenal signed Eze. He was the predominant goal because Arteta wasn’t glad with Trossard or Martinelli.
‘He bought Eze to be in that spot, but when we were to talk about Anthony Gordon for that left wing spot, Gordon is the most effective players within the Premier League along with his pace and all the things, and he’s already playing for England.
‘But you’ll have to pay £90 million for him and I don’t know if Arsenal have that sort of money.’

Should a move to Arsenal fail to materialise, Gordon will hardly be in need of suiots in the summertime, with United, Liverpool and even Manchester City all credited with interest within the 25-year-old.
But former Liverpool and Chelsea defender Glen Johnson believes that a move to United, much improved under the guidance of interim head coach Michael Carrick, would suit the England international.
‘When it comes to him getting game time and kicking on, I’d probably say Manchester United as a destination for Anthony Gordon,’ Johnson told Boyle Sports.
‘Obviously, he’s a Liverpool fan, so for a Liverpool fan to play for United, it might be a bit odd for him.
‘But at Arsenal, you’ve got too many similar players. I don’t think he’d be needed as much.
‘Under Michael Carrick, they’ve obviously kicked on lots more, I believe the way in which he plays, he would get game time, and I just think that might probably suit him best at once.’
Eddie Howe responds to Gordon transfer links
Speaking last week, the Newcastle boss said: ‘Within the age we’re at, there’s at all times rumour and speculation.
‘I don’t see probably 90% of it. It comes with the territory of being a top player. You have got got to place it out of your brain and give attention to the football. I actually have not seen the story, so it’s news to me.
‘It’s kind of your industry creating those stories. I’m barely secluded to it – if you happen to don’t read it, you don’t know who’s being linked with who.
‘I believe it’s irrelevant really – it’s how the players react to that. I believe they’ll grow to be robust enough to disregard it and consider playing.’
Despite interest in his signature, though, Gordon has sought to dismiss any speculation over his future, labelling it as a ‘load of rubbish’.
‘It’s the standard, standard. I believe they simply pick names out of a hat. They do,’ he told Chronicle Live when asked concerning the rumours.
‘I haven’t heard anything; they could wish to tell me before they let you know [the media].’
‘I actually have undergone enough transfer stuff now to know that it’s all a load of rubbish. I’m focused on me and focused on the team, I’m focused on at once.
‘You look too far in the longer term and also you begin to underperform. And consider me, I actually have done that and I’m not going to try this now.’
