Former India captain MS Dhoni has been penalised for overspeeding by the Ranchi traffic police, in accordance with a report in India Today. He was fined Rs 1000 after his vehicle was caught violating traffic norms.
An e-challan under Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act was issued after Ranchi’s traffic monitoring system recorded the speed violation near Dhoni’s residence.
Ranchi’s automated traffic surveillance detected the vehicle exceeding the speed limit, triggering a digital challan as a part of the town’s enforcement process.
Though the offence is minor, any news involving Dhoni grabs attention from fans and trends on social media.
This follows one other legal problem for Dhoni just days earlier, when the Jharkhand State Housing Board issued him a notice over the alleged misuse of a residential plot in Ranchi, citing concerns that the property, meant for residential purposes, could have been used for industrial purposes.
Officials stated that the plot is situated on Harmu Road in Ranchi, where Dhoni resided before moving to his current home on Ring Road.
Meanwhile, preparations for IPL 2026 kicked off as Dhoni joined captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and the Chennai Super Kings team for his or her first rehearsal on the team’s high-performance centre on Sunday, March 1.
CSK began their camp with multiple Indian cricketers reporting for duty, while overseas recruits and foreign coaching staff are yet to affix. For now, assistant coaches Sridharan Sriram and Rajeev Kumar are leading the sessions alongside strength and conditioning coach Greg King.
