Goa cricketer Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary former India skipper Sachin Tendulkar, tied the knot with entrepreneur Saniya Chandhok on Thursday in a personal ceremony in Mumbai. Several outstanding personalities, including politicians and Indian cricketers, attended.
After the ceremony concluded, the complete family was captured posing together. Watch it here:
Celebrations for the marriage began earlier this week with a string of traditional ceremonies in Mumbai. The festivities included mehendi and sangeet functions attended by several current and former cricketers, adding a powerful sporting presence to the family gathering.
Chandhok is a Mumbai-based entrepreneur who comes from a well known business family. She is the granddaughter of industrialist Ravi Ghai, chairman of the Graviss Group. Professionally, Saaniya has built her profession within the pet-care and animal welfare space, working as each a veterinary technician and entrepreneur while actively promoting animal welfare initiatives.
Within the lead-up to the marriage, Tendulkar and his wife had earlier visited Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his official residence in February to personally invite him to the ceremony.
The cricket legend has also prolonged invitations to several outstanding national leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Leader of the Opposition within the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
India head coach Gautam Gambhir was also seen attending the marriage celebrations, just hours before India’s crucial semifinal against the England cricket team within the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The India head coach arrived briefly on the ceremony in traditional attire, drawing attention ahead of the high-pressure knockout clash. The event was held at the identical hotel where the Indian team was staying, making it convenient for a brief visit. Reports suggested that just a few members of the Indian squad were also present.
