Not less than two emergency alerts have been sent urging people to hunt immediate shelter and await ‘further instructions’.

Iran has launched ‘its most intense barrage of missile strikes yet’ across the Middle East.

Dubai has already seen various drones intercepted, with debris landing on two of its most iconic hotels -the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah – setting them on fire.

Martyn, a British expat, told Metro: ‘We’ve received two alerts just now. We also had one other two last night.

‘It’s a really, very tense situation. It’s very hard to evaluate here, being in the attention of the storm. There’s no solution to understand it.

‘Being on the bottom could be very nerve-wracking. Many think the missiles would pass but I believe it’s best to seek out shelter because you possibly can never really tell what might occur.’

He added the extent of disruption people across the United Arab Emirates is ‘what Iran wants’.

‘My friend lives in Abu Dhabi and he got hit hard – there have been 15 intercepts recently,’ he said.

‘It looks like the Iranians are attempting to take pot shots since it causes plenty of disruption.’
