CM Punk took things to a really personal level in a recent promo geared toward Roman Reigns, even saying he would bury Reigns alongside his late father, Sika. The remark struck a nerve, prompting Reigns’ cousin Zilla Fatu to warn that he plans to slap Punk the following time he sees him.
Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre — who has previously called Punk the worst person alive — was asked on the “Complex Graps” podcast whether Punk’s comments reinforced that opinion. He said,
“I can’t really criticize things people say on the microphone when the goal is to get inside someone’s head. I’ve said among the worst things conceivable to people myself. Punk is just attempting to get into Roman’s head by saying the worst thing possible. I imagine Roman will come back next week and punch him within the face. At this point, that’s probably what they need — stop talking one another to death and begin throwing bombs.”
McIntyre added that having shared the ring with each men, he knows how dangerous that may very well be. He said,
“I’ve been within the ring with each of them, and it kills me to confess how good Punk is and the way good Roman is. After they start throwing bombs, it’s going to be interesting. If Punk desires to get that private, I do know what Roman can do when things get that private. I’ve said horrible things about him before, and he made my life hell for years due to it.”
McIntyre also admitted that he won’t be watching the confrontation live. He said,
“I won’t watch it live. I’ll catch the clip later because I’m focused on one thing — the show that’s been higher since their first showdown, and that’s SmackDown.”
As for whether he truly believes Punk is the worst person alive, McIntyre clarified his stance. He said,
“I mean, if we’re talking concerning the real world and getting political — which I’m not going to do — there are probably worse people on the market. But on the planet of skilled wrestling? Yeah, he’s the worst human being.”
