A loud blast erupted on the US embassy in Oslo on Sunday morning, causing damage to the doorway.
An explosion struck the embassy compound within the west of Norway’s capital at around 1am local time (midnight within the UK).
Eyewitnesses said the blast ‘shook the home’ and created a ‘cloud of smoke’.
A string of US diplomatic missions have been targeted by the Iranian regime across the Gulf after the outbreak of war within the Middle East.
It isn’t known whether the blast in Oslo is linked in any method to the US war with Iran.
Norwegian police said the explosion caused minor damage but no injuries.
Officers are still looking for the perpetrators and didn’t find some other explosive devices in the realm.
Sebastian Toerstad, a highschool student who drove past the embassy on the time of the blast, said: ‘There was a really thick layer of smoke on the road.
‘There was some damage to the doorway.’
Oslo police also confirmed to public broadcaster NRK that the blast occurred on the entry to the compound’s consular section.
Local Anna Gilbo told CNN: ‘I used to be watching TV and listen to a loud bang while the entire house shook. There was a search happening for some time after the explosion which apprehensive my friends and I, but it surely seems like the threat is over.’
Officers in white overalls were later seen working at the location.
Oslo Police said in a separate statement: ‘The police are in a dialogue with the embassy and there aren’t any reports of any injured individuals.’
