Bryan Robson has urged Michael Carrick to reverse Manchester United’s decision to let ‘absolute top player’ Casemiro leave Old Trafford.
Casemiro announced in January that he could be leaving the Premier League giants at the tip of the season.
The 34-year-old joined Manchester United in the summertime of 2022 after ending his near decade-long spell with Real Madrid.
Casemiro played well over 300 games for the Spanish giants, helping Real win three La Liga titles and a staggering five Champions Leagues.
Given his success in Madrid, Casemiro’s early form at Old Trafford was a surprise because the veteran midfielder initially struggled to adapt to the Premier League and looked exposed in a poor United side.
The Brazil international received criticism from quite a lot of pundits, with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher infamously urging him to depart Manchester United on Sky Sports and claiming his talents had ‘left him’.
But Casemiro has been one among United’s most consistent players over the past two seasons and former captain Robson is of the opinion he needs to be convinced to remain for not less than one other season.

‘I might encourage Casemiro to remain,’ Red Devils legend Robson told BoyleSports. ‘He’s had a extremely good season this 12 months.

Casemiro does have a one-year extension option in his contract but Manchester United decided to not activate it.

Manchester United were fifth within the Premier League on the time of Ruben Amorim’s sacking in January but have since climbed to 3rd under caretaker boss Michael Carrick.
Carrick’s unbeaten start got here to an end last week nevertheless, with the Red Devils suffering a 2-1 defeat to ten-man Newcastle United at St James Park.
United have the weekend off following their early FA Cup exit but return to Premier League motion next Sunday against top-four rivals Aston Villa.
