Dana White hits back at Jon Jones over UFC White House rant: ‘What did I say that wasn’t true?’

Dana White has clapped back at Jon Jones’ claims that there have been, in truth, negotiations for the UFC’s best ever fighter to look on the White House.

Since ending his short-lived retirement, Jones has been vocally angling for a spot on the UFC White House event. Nonetheless, White has also been equally vocal about not wanting anything to do with him for such a giant show on account of his inability to be reliable and his checkered past.

Now, the pair’s once warm relationship has reached an all-time low as Jones took to social media in multiple deleted posts and live streams on Sunday expressing his displeasure at being left off the cardboard and having his negotiations dismissed.

Dana White claps back at Jon Jones’ social media posts about UFC White House

Following the large announcement on Saturday night of their entire six-fight card for the White House, Dana White met with the media on the UFC 326 post-fight press conference. There, he claimed that there have been never any serious negotiations for a Jon Jones appearance on the show.

This enraged the legendary two-division champion, who claimed he was being made the ‘fall guy’ in a string of deleted tweets and an Instagram Live video. And while White repeated his old chestnut that he hadn’t seen the posts, he reiterated what he has said about Jones fight on the South Lawn.

“I never said that there have been no negotiations,” White insisted after tonight’s Zuffa Boxing event. “I said ‘were they talking to Jon Jones? They consult with everybody’. Everybody was talked to, but not one word of what I said was not true concerning the whole Jon Jones thing.

“How again and again have I sat up here and said ‘he’s not fighting on the White House’? No. And, have you ever guys all seen the video of the dude with the Meta glasses on when he didn’t know he was being filmed telling him that his hips are f—ing shot and he needs hip substitute?

“Did you not see the videos of him running within the flag football game? What did I say that wasn’t true? It’s all true and also you guys all bust my balls about how much I really like Jon Jones and Jon is the best of all time.

“But no way in hell Jon was going to be booked for the White House card, wasn’t going to occur. However the matchmakers were out talking to everybody, seeing what was possible and so they brought me every possible fight that might be made.”
