For the unversed, deadly stampede – which occurred on September 27 during a rally of the actor-politician in Karur, 41 people were killed while over 60 people were seriously injured. Read on to know the newest in regards to the summon.
Thalapathy Vijay Summoned By CBI For Questioning In Karur Stampede Case
As reported by news agency PTI, Vijay has been asked to seem before the CBI on March 15 in Delhi on the agency headquarters. This news come just after reports stated that the actor had asked a 15-day extension to seem before bureau, citing political engagements.
In response to the identical report, the agency had also sought the presence of DMK MLA from Karur, V Senthil Balaji, before the investigation team on Monday. Nevertheless, his staff had refused to just accept the notice. The agency reportedly then emailed him the notice looking for his presence for questioning within the case. The CBI remains to be to receive any sought of response from them.
A bit in regards to the case and appearances, on March 9, Thalapathy Vijay was asked to seem before the CBI on March 10, but he sent a proper request looking for one other date after 15 days. Alongside the extension, he has also made a request for the agency to query him at their Chennai office or at another office in Tamil Nadu. About The Karur Stampede
The stampede occurred on September 27 in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, during a political rally organised by TVK. The event – which took place around 400 km from Chennai, drew a large crowd and shortly turned chaotic, leading to the death of 41 people and injuries many more. Following the incident, Vijay offered his condolences via social media. In it he said, “I express my deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur. I pray for a speedy recovery for those undergoing treatment in hospital.”
In October, the apex court asked the CBI director to appoint a senior officer to take over the investigation. In addition they constituted a supervisory committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Ajay Rastogi to watch the agency’s investigation.
