Actor-director R. Parthiban recently addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks about Trisha Krishnan after the comments sparked widespread backlash online. The difficulty began when Parthiban made a remark concerning the actor during a stage appearance on the Galatta Awards, shortly after Trisha was seen attending a marriage reception in Chennai with Vijay Thalapathy. The joint appearance had already attracted attention since it got here amid reports of Vijay’s ongoing divorce proceedings along with his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, where she alleged that the actor was having an affair with an actress, which had fuelled speculation about his personal life. Read on to know what that is all about.
“Trisha Krishnan Shouldn’t Have Attended The Wedding Reception With Thalapathy Vijay,” Says R Parthiban Amid Backlash
In the course of the awards event, Parthiban used wordplay referencing Trisha’s popular character Kundavai from Ponniyin Selvan while responding to a prompt on stage. He remarked, “It is healthier to ask this Kundavai to take a seat at home for some time.” He added, “It is healthier if she doesn’t step out since it is creating lots of issues.” The comment quickly went viral on social media, with many interpreting it as a dig at Trisha’s public appearance with Vijay.
How Did Trisha Krishnan React To Parthiban’s Jibe?
Trisha later reacted to the remark through a pointed social media post, criticising the statement without directly naming Parthiban. “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder,” she said. She also wrote in her post that she had been informed by the organisers of the event that her name and movie had been included on the last minute on the request of “a person conveyed through his assistant.”
Trisha Krishnan’s Response To Parthiban’s Comment

Following the backlash, Parthiban first expressed regret and later shared a virtually eight-minute video explaining the context behind his words. Within the video, he said the comment was made spontaneously and “In anger,” and insisted that he never intended to focus on Trisha personally. He also clarified that he didn’t request organisers to display her photograph on stage and described such claims as completely false.
Parthiban Explained The Context Behind His Words
In the identical video, Parthiban said, “There’s a difference between a mistake and wrongdoing. A mistake is something done unknowingly. A wrongdoing is something done willingly. Similarly, there’s a difference between an apology and expressing regret.”
He said, “After I was speaking about Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar, a photograph of Trisha appeared on-screen. I used to be genuinely shocked and didn’t know the best way to react at that moment. The claim that I specifically requested her photo to be displayed is 100 per cent incorrect.”
He further added, “I’m not a slave to anyone. I even have never been paid to attend an event, and I never will likely be. I is not going to join any political party or compromise my integrity for money. My honest feeling is that Thalapathy Vijay has overcome enormous obstacles to enter politics. Even the Karur stampede didn’t damage him as much as this wedding reception did. And Trisha shouldn’t have attended the marriage reception. That’s my inner thought. But I didn’t go on stage with the intention of claiming it. The event was pre-planned, and I’ll talk about that individually.”
Vijay Thalapathy-Trisha Krishnan’s Appearance Together
The remark stemmed from the viral video of Trisha’s appearance at the marriage reception with Vijay Thalapathy. In response to him, the remark was not meant to suggest that girls should remain indoors, a notion he said he doesn’t imagine in. He acknowledged that the comment was a mistake and expressed regret for the controversy. And said he had even tried to get the segment faraway from the event recording before it spread widely online.
Despite his clarification, the episode has continued to spark debate inside the Tamil film industry, particularly because it intersects with ongoing speculation surrounding Vijay Thalapathy’s personal life. Meanwhile, neither Vijay nor Trisha has issued any further statements about Parthiban’s latest explanation.
