The High Court of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh celebrated the J-K cricket team on Tuesday, following their historic Ranji Trophy victory after greater than sixty years.
Brigadier Anil Gupta (retd) from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) mentioned that the team was thrilled by the high court’s recognition, attended by Chief Justice Arun Palli, Justice Sanjay Dhar, and other dignitaries.
Under the leadership of experienced domestic player Paras Dogra, the J-K team secured their first Ranji Trophy title by drawing with Karnataka, an eight-time champion, because of a big 291-run first-innings lead in the ultimate at Hubballi on February 28.
The chief justice and judges commended the team for his or her dedication, perseverance, discipline, and teamwork. They noted that this achievement mirrors the resilience and sporting prowess of the young cricketers and can function an inspiration to aspiring athletes throughout the Union territory and the nation.
On the ceremony, the victorious team members received commemorative T-shirts as tokens of appreciation. Moreover, a commemorative trophy was presented by the judges to honour their remarkable victory.
Brigadier Gupta remarked, “Normally, individuals are afraid of visiting the court. But when the team got here to know that they might be felicitated by the high court, they were overjoyed. It was a matter of great happiness.”
