Things are looking a bit brighter for Jax Taylor, considering the previous “Vanderpump Rules” and “House of Villains” reality star has reportedly reached a custody deal along with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Brittany Cartwright. Taylor and Cartwright have been at odds since 2025, when the pair’s marital woes were center stage on season 2 of “The Valley.”

Jax Taylor And Brittany Cartwright Reach A Custody Deal With Alcohol And Drug Restrictions
In response to TMZ, the Bravo veterans reportedly reached a custody deal involving their only child, Cruz. The legal documents state that neither parent will provide the opposite with child support.
Moreover, the previous couple agreed to share custody and responsibility regarding Cruz’s health decisions, education, and overall well-being. Cartwright, nonetheless, has the authority to make final health decisions for Cruz if she and Taylor are unable to achieve an agreement.

Cartwright and Taylor are set to separate their time with Cruz. There are also other restrictions in place, including a set holiday schedule and a 6-month waiting period to introduce latest partners. The legal documents also state that neither reality star might be drunk, marijuana, or other illegal drugs while with Cruz.

Jax Taylor Opened Up About Struggling With Addiction
Before reaching their custody agreement, Cartwright was adamant that restrictions be in place. In response to The Blast, Taylor previously admitted to scuffling with addiction to cocaine for 20 years.
“I even have substance issues—primarily with cocaine. It’s hard to say out loud,” Taylor said, adding he was using “since I used to be 23 and now I’m 45.”
“I’ve never said this in my life,” he said. “So, to come back out and say that I even have an addiction [and] that I even have a sickness that I even have to work on the remaining of my life is a very big deal for me.”
Taylor admitted in a separate interview, in response to The Blast, that his son was a part of the rationale he decided to get candid about his struggles.

“It was very tough to come back out, but it surely was something that I needed to do,” Taylor said. “It was a weight lifted off my shoulders. I just needed to do it for myself, and I needed to do it for my son.”
“I would like my son sooner or later to be like, ‘My dad….there was something improper with him, and he fixed himself; this is the reason he’s here today,” he added.

Jax Taylor Vowed Never To Touch Drugs Again
In the summertime of 2025, Taylor admitted he’d turn into a modified man, vowing never to the touch alcohol or drugs again.
“I do know for a fact — and I do know you are not purported to say it — but I do know for a fact I won’t touch drugs and alcohol again,” Taylor said. “I do know that. I even have little interest in it. I’m not triggered by it. “
“I adore it. It’s like a drug to me,” the truth TV star continued. “I really like going and meeting the fellows. My sober friends, I’ve shifted from my drunk friends; now I even have a sober group of friends. Now we have an awesome time. We exit to dinner.”
Cartwright Got Vulnerable About Her Son Before Season 2 Of ‘The Valley’
Before season 2 of “The Valley” aired on Bravo, Cartwright opened up about her son’s autism diagnosis, calling the news “difficult” to process. “It may well be difficult because I’ve never heard him say, ‘I really like you,’ but he’s so loving, and he shows me he loves me each day,” she said. “He’s such a mommy’s boy.”
While Cartwright admitted she was still learning more about autism following Cruz’s diagnosis, she vowed to make use of her platform to assist educate others.
“What I actually need people to grasp about autism is he sees the world so way more vibrant and amazing than any of us ever will. It doesn’t suggest that he is not going to be the neatest in his class. It doesn’t suggest he just isn’t going to work for NASA sooner or later. There are no limitations to what he can do,” she added.

‘The Valley’ Is Returning To Bravo
Bravo viewers will learn more about Cartwright, Taylor, and Cruz when season 3 of “The Valley” returns to the network in April 2026.
