Ronda Rousey says Dana White urged her to fight outside the UFC: ‘Don’t stay here and take less’

Ronda Rousey says she got Dana White’s blessing to make her comeback away from the Octagon.

After booking her first MMA fight in ten years, Rousey said that she believes she’s helping the UFC by giving them such much-needed competition.

Certainly one of the most important stars the game has ever produced has highlighted several things about her former home that fans have also taken issue with for a while.

Together with Rousey speaking on the UFC fighter pay issues, she revealed how her former boss felt about her fighting for a special promotion.

On May 16, two former UFC champions will compete outside the Octagon now that Francis Ngannou has been added to Most Helpful Promotions’ first MMA event.

Ronda Rousey has already explained why she isn’t returning to the UFC despite bringing a fight between her and Gina Carano to them first.

During MVP’s press conference on Tuesday, ‘Rowdy’ was asked whether negotiations falling apart has led to any bitterness, which she disputed.

“No, by no means… He [Dana White] was the one which was like, ‘I would like you to make as much money as possible. Don’t stay here and take less for me’. He gave me his blessing to exit and do it by myself,” she said. “If anyone’s been his apprentice on tips on how to be a promoter, it’s been me.”

Rousey added that she took the news that she’d approached Netflix in regards to the fight to White because he’s all the time been her “friend first”.

While she was nervous about her former boss being upset together with her, she said that the UFC president was completely satisfied to listen to in regards to the move she was making.

“He was like, ‘I could never be upset with you. I like you a lot. I would like you to do great, I would like this to achieve success.’”

Rousey said a lot of her issues with the UFC are attributable to White not being an owner of the promotion but an worker, saying that it was a mistake to not let him proceed to run things.
