UPDATE — 3/11/26 at 11:58 a.m. ET: Nearly three months after Dan Davis went missing, his family confirmed that he was found dead.
Chicago Police confirmed that Davis’ body was positioned, though they’ve not shared any further details.
Davis’ daughter, Wendy Davis, took to Facebook on Tuesday, March 10, to share the sad news. “The update I never desired to make. Three and a half months of agony has finally come to a detailed. As of yesterday afternoon, my dad was positioned, but isn’t any longer with us,” she began.
“It’s an eerie feeling – thank god this terrible chapter of constant unknown is finally over. But now starts a brand new terrible chapter without my smarter, goofier, and relentlessly selfless other half,” she said. “That is the news we’ve all been expecting in a way, but nothing really prepares you for it. I’ve never laughed harder with anybody than I even have with my dad. And I can’t wait to do it again someday.”
Wendy went on to acknowledge the “support from thousands and thousands of individuals across the entire world” who “carried our spirits high throughout these previous few months.” She also thanked several detectives for his or her labor throughout the search.
“Organizations like Cook County Forest Preserve Police, Code 3 SAR, SAR Sheps, and others for sacrificing your time to do comprehensive searches throughout the entire area, even when the weather was trash,” she wrote.
Wendy concluded the post by saying she didn’t know the right way to “properly thank everyone” who helped and showed support in the course of the difficult time. “I won’t ever have the option to process how far this reached,” she said. “If nothing else, I can confidently say this whole thing gave me so far more faith in humanity. Dad would never ever imagine this. He would sure hate being a star though. Lol.”
“That’s it for now. Just thanks thanks to everyone who helped us in each way they might,” Wendy said. “Not a single gesture went unnoticed. I’m so glad dad is so loved.”

Three months after missing person Dan Davis was last seen, his family has expanded the search nationwide in hopes of bringing him home.
Davis, 59, was last seen on November 26, 2025, on Bourbon Street within the Chicago suburb of Blue Island, Illinois, where he has worked for the past 25 years.
Members of the family said that a Cook County sheriff’s deputy gave Davis a ride after he was involved in a crash on the night he disappeared, in response to Fox 32 Chicago. Body-camera footage captured Davis appearing disoriented, which has led his relations to imagine that he was experiencing a medical emergency on the time of his disappearance.
Multiple searches have been organized following his disappearance which have enlisted the assistance of volunteers, drones, divers and K-9 teams.
While Davis has still not been found and the search teams haven’t been in a position to locate any of the items he had on him when he disappeared, the family has said they are usually not ready to offer up in search of him.
“My dad would never ever do that to his job, to me, especially in the course of the holidays, he’s not the sort of guy that may go off grid without telling anybody,” Davis’ daughter, Wendy Davis, previously said.
The family shared their plan to take the search nationwide with a push called “Find Dan Day,” which officially began on February 21. The initiative brought supporters from across the country together to assist find Davis by sharing his flyer online, contacting hospitals and searching designated areas in person.
“Today’s the primary day of our big nationwide Find Dan Day, and we’ve a bunch of teams on the bottom doing a bunch of various stuff,” Wendy told Fox 32 Chicago.
Over the course of the weekend, volunteers searched several areas near where Davis was last seen. Meanwhile, others were tasked handy out flyers and knock on doors asking for help.
“Over here today, we’ve some people going door to door and putting up flyers in people’s places, and ensuring persons are checking their cameras, and their properties and all the things,” Wendy said. “And we even have some search and rescue crews from out of town which are looking in wooded areas and stuff around the realm. And we’ve people in other states helping us as well, making calls. So there’s rather a lot occurring.”

Prior to officially launching Find Dan Day, Davis’ daughter posted videos on TikTok asking for help. Their TikTok videos have reached thousands and thousands of viewers, while they’ve also created a “Find Dan Davis” Facebook group that currently has nearly 50,000 people a part of it. Within the group, members from across the country share Davis’ photos, distribute flyers and share possible leads within the case.
Because the Davis family has urged the general public to assist in the search for his or her father, Wendy has also been open about what type of person Davis is. “He’s never called in sick, he’s never taken a vacation. He is basically dedicated to it,” she told NBC News in January.
“My dad is just an enormous goofball,” Wendy continued. “A lot of the memories that I share with my dad growing up are only silly, silly — just us laughing until we cry about things that only we expect are funny.”
