Sanju Samson gave a relaxed response to the media when asked about tackling Jofra Archer’s challenge within the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter had struggled against England’s speedster during a bilateral T20I series in 2025, but he turned the tables on the large stage of the worldwide tournament.
When India national cricket team faced England national cricket team within the semifinal of the tournament at Wankhede Stadium last week, much of the eye was on the competition between Samson and Archer. Notably, the English pacer had dismissed Samson in each of the primary three matches of the 2025 bilateral series.
Nevertheless, the crucial semifinal saw Samson dominate the matchup. The proper-hander went after Archer aggressively, smashing 4 sixes and likewise striking a few boundaries off his bowling on the Wankhede Stadium. When asked how he overcame the mental challenge and faced Jofra Archer fearlessly within the semifinal, Samson responded:
“All the hype was made by you guys only. I didn’t even look to take into consideration all that.”
