Manchester United are reportedly yet to carry talks with Casemiro to attempt to persuade the veteran midfielder to alter his mind and stay beyond the summer.
Casemiro made an official announcement back in late January that this might be his fourth and final season at Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old midfielder joined United from Real Madrid in a deal value around £70million in 2022 and has gone on to make 154 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
Given the fanfare surrounding his arrival within the Premier League, it’s fair to say Casemiro has – at times – fallen wanting expectations, not helped by United’s struggles as an entire under Erik ten Hag and subsequently Ruben Amorim.
But since Michael Carrick took over the reins from Amorim, Casemiro is playing a few of his best football yet in a United shirt and calls for the Brazilian to make a U-turn on his decision are growing louder with every passing game.
Casemiro opened the scoring in United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa together with his seventh goal of the Premier League campaign, a superb header which the five-time Champions League winner has grow to be known for across his illustrious profession.
Loud cries of ‘yet another 12 months!’ were heard within the stands as Casemiro did a lap of the pitch shortly after the ultimate whistle, with the Brazil international pictured tapping the United crest on his shirt.

‘Let’s see what’s going to occur from now until the tip of the season.
‘Possibly this case [a potential U-turn] can occur on the very end of the season when you find yourself perhaps sure concerning the project you’re going to do when it comes to manager, when it comes to Champions League football and all the remaining.
‘But in the mean time, still nothing changes between Casemiro and United, aside from the indisputable fact that Casemiro has been a unbelievable skilled, he’s helping and his relationship with the fans is great so let’s see what’s going to occur.’

Carrick was wary of adding any fuel to speculation of a possible U-turn when asked about Casemiro’s situation at his post-match press conference on Sunday.
The United interim boss did, though, applaud the three-time La Liga winner on the ‘terrific’ impact he had made during his extraordinary two months within the job.
Asked if there was any likelihood Casemiro might be convinced to alter his mind, Carrick replied: ‘I believe, in some ways, it’s difficult to say.
‘When something is set, in some ways, the indisputable fact that it’s decided makes things just a little bit easier and everybody understands the situation really.
‘I believe the impact he’s had has been terrific, actually since I’ve been here and dealing with him, and his influence within the team and massive moments in goals.
‘And I believe it was a pleasant moment at the tip there with the supporters, and having that connection and the respect.
‘That was a pleasant moment and I believe he’ll enjoy that.’
