Tony Khan Reacts To Ronda Rousey’s AEW Debut + Lots More

Tony Khan says Ronda Rousey is at all times welcome in AEW.

Throughout the post-AEW Revolution 2026 media scrum, Khan praised Rousey’s surprise appearance on the pay-per-view event after Toni Storm defeated Marina Shafir.

Khan recalled Rousey’s past ROH tag team match with Marina against Billie Starkz and Athena in Los Angeles, CA. The AEW President confirmed that Rousey had invited him to her May sixteenth MMA return against Gina Carano. He expects AEW names, including Shafir, to attend the fight.

You’ll be able to try some highlights from the media scrum below:

On Ronda Rousey’s AEW future: “Well, Ronda (Rousey) is a very good friend of Marina Shafir, and Marina brought her in as backup… Marina and Ronda are good friends. Ronda’s actually wrestled for me before, but never in AEW. Ronda wrestled in ROH. We had an important match just a few years ago, also in Los Angeles. It was Ronda and Marina teaming up in ROH against Billie Starkz and the World Champion Athena. I believed it was unbelievable. I loved that match, and when Marina said Ronda was gonna be her backup, well, it’s like, okay, everyone’s banned from ringside… Ronda Rousey’s an enormous star, so, we now have an important relationship together with her. She’s wrestled for me before in ROH, and he or she’s at all times welcomed here in AEW anytime. She’s got an enormous fight coming up against Gina Carano and I don’t know Gina Carano in any respect. Ronda’s at all times been superb to me. I wish her the very best.” Khan was asked if AEW would have a presence at Rousey’s MMA return and said the next: “I feel that might be great. Ronda’s at all times welcome here and anybody from AEW that desires to attend that fight is welcome to accomplish that. Ronda may invite some people. Ronda invited me to the fight tonight. So, I suppose so, yes, seems like we’re gonna be there.”

On AEW possibly running a show at SoFi Stadium: “You think that? You think that it’s a superb idea? You just like the SoFi idea? Could possibly be interesting. It’s interesting. I’ve considered it before. I feel it’s interesting. It’s a really interesting idea. It’s not crazy in any respect. I don’t think that’s a crazy thought. Whenever you saw all of the star power, it gets your brain firing off and it makes you’re thinking that. There have been so many great wrestlers wrestling tonight, so many returns, surprises, the rivals, and moments. It’s not crazy.”

On AEW introducing tracksuits for the Continental Classic: “I even have some news on that. Matching tracksuits. You should have an identical tracksuit since you were each within the Continental Classic, and we’re gonna have Continental Classic tracksuits. That’s right… Blue League boys. A pair Blue League boys. They’re gonna have matching Blue League tracksuits. It’s gonna be awesome.”

On Mistico’s status going forward: “I feel we can be splitting time. I feel — obviously, CMLL is an incredible partnership for AEW. And what an indication of trust between the 2 promotions to have certainly one of the best wrestlers of all time now as a dual signee, joining us in AEW as a champion. Someone that I actually have admired for many years, someone that could be a personal hero of mine within the wrestling business. To give you the option to sit down here with Mistico next to Kevin and Mike, to give you the option to sit down here with JetSpeed and say that our World Champions together with Mistico? Who — again, to reiterate, certainly one of my all-time heroes on this business, someone who’s achieved a lot. And it’s an honor to give you the option to sit down on the stage with him and say he’s an element of AEW, and now a World Champion here. It’s so cool.”

On working with CMLL on Mistico’s schedule: “And we’ll be working with Salvadore now that he’s a champion in AEW, I’ll work with Salvadore very closely to be certain that we see Mistico in each CMLL and AEW as much as possible.”

On AEW potentially returning to Mexico for Grand Slam: “It’s an important thought. I do know that I’d love someday to try this but I absolutely am focused on going back for Grand Slam Mexico which was such an enormous success for us. Grand Slam Mexico was the most-watched AEW Dynamite last 12 months. It’s one of the successful AEW Dynamites ever. A pay-per-view (in Mexico) may very well be an important thing. I do know that we’re, without delay, in conversations about going back for Grand Slam Mexico which is a hugely exciting thing for me. After all, that was such an important memory for us.”

On if Wayne Brady has a future with AEW: “You wanna’ see Wayne Brady choke a man?… I would love to see that too. I’d prefer to see that too. I didn’t know he’d prefer to get wet, and yeah, if he desires to get in there and get after it, I feel that’s great. So, like I said, I didn’t know Wayne liked to get wet. He likes to get after it. I’d like to get Wayne within the ring.”
