Veteran actress Navnindra Behl has passed away. On March 16, her son, renowned screenwriter Kanu Behl, shared the heartbreaking news of her demise on Instagram. He posted a nostalgic throwback photo of his mother and wrote an emotional tribute. For those unaware, Navnindra Behl was 76 years old and had made significant contributions to theatre, film, and tv as a director, author, and actor. She authored and directed quite a few stage plays in Punjab. Her loss is an ideal blow to Indian cinema, especially considering her work alongside Kangana Ranaut in Queen.

In his heartfelt message, Kanu Behl referred to his mother as his “Titan,” “Faith,” “Love,” “Guide,” “Mentor,” and the whole lot else. He concluded his note with, “Until you birth me again,” sharing that his eyes will all the time seek her radiant smile, warm embrace, and people curious, expressive eyes. He expressed gratitude for her role in lighting up his soul.
Kanu Behl’s post has gone viral, prompting many reactions from fellow celebrities. Harshvarrdhan Kapoor offered his condolences with an easy, “Terribly sorry to your loss,” while others like Ranvir Shorey, director Arati Kadav, and Mansi Shrivastava also mourned her passing.

With over 30 years of experience as a author, actor, and director in TV, she worked on several acclaimed projects, including Maachis (directed by Gulzar), Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (by Dibakar Banerjee), and Queen (starring Kangana Ranaut). She also appeared in Hollywood productions akin to The Pride and The Guru.
In television, she played the grandmother to Nakuul Mehta in Dil Boley Oberoi and Ishqbaaaz, and featured in shows like Viji and Sadaa-E-Vaadi. Her powerful performance in Khufiya, directed by Tabu, was highly appreciated by critics and audiences alike. Her transient but impactful role in Queen stays memorable.
