Michael Bisping has defended the UFC over recent disputes regarding fighter pay.
Over the past few weeks, UFC fighter pay has once more develop into a predominant topic of conversation in MMA, as a consequence of the return of Ronda Rousey.
After announcing she’s going to compete on the primary ever MMA event on Netflix, promoted by Jake Paul and MVP, she turned her attention to the UFC establishment, waging war on them.
Despite the continued conversation surrounding UFC fighter pay, the promotion scored big this past Monday, tying down their biggest energetic star Alex Pereira to an eight-fight deal.
Michael Bisping claims UFC champions are all on good money
At 38 years old, ‘Poatan’ likely only has two to a few more fights left in his profession, and so signing an eight-fight deal practically ties him down for his entire profession.
Due to the seemingly changing landscape in the game, his decision to tie himself down has been criticized by the wide majority of UFC fans.
Former champion, Michael Bisping, though, has defended the Brazilian’s decision to pledge his long-term future to the premier MMA promotion.
“I assume he was making somewhere around $3 million to $4 million per fight, this recent deal, which probably does lock him up for the remaining of his combat sports life might be going to be across the $6 million range,” Bisping said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“And take a look at this, Alex Pereira isn’t complaining, he’s glad, and it’s the identical story with all the fellows at the highest of the game. I do know only recently a variety of people have been talking s— concerning the UFC but funnily enough, the champs, the people at the highest of the game, one of the best on the planet, the fellows that drive the game, they’re not b——-, they’re not complaining.”
That, though, isn’t true as recently, former UFC champion Jon Jones publicly asked to be released from his long-term contract as he’s unhappy with recent offers from the UFC.
Fellow UFC star Conor McGregor can also be in talks to potentially make his comeback to the game, nonetheless, it’s unclear how recent negotiations have gone.
Bisping went on to assert that Pereira is getting ‘compensated accordingly’ despite not knowing the small print of his recent deal.
‘Poatan’ continues to be hopeful of securing a future fight against Jones, stating that the UFC are unlikely to release him from his contract and that Jones will wish to return and don’t have any alternative apart from to fight him.
