Moises Caicedo says ‘underrated’ Chelsea star is ‘probably the greatest’ | Football

Moises Caicedo believes Chelsea have already got ‘probably the greatest players on the planet’ in ‘underrated’ striker Joao Pedro.

Brazil international Pedro has enjoyed a powerful first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances.

Chelsea signed the 24-year-old last summer in a £60m deal from Brighton and have been pleased along with his development.

Pedro was expected to battle with Liam Delap for a spot within the Chelsea team but quickly established himself because the first-choice striker at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo is rightly considered probably the greatest midfielders on the planet however the Ecuador international insists he’s under no circumstances the one world-class star in west London.

Chelsea’s former record signing claims Pedro isn’t only probably the greatest players within the Premier League but on the planet and says he has ‘the whole lot’.

Asked to call his ‘most underrated’ teammate at Stamford Bridge, Caicedo told Sky Sports: ‘Joao Pedro. People don’t understand how good he’s.

‘For me he’s probably the greatest players, not only within the Premier League but on the planet. His movement, the way in which he plays, how he scores goals – for me, as a striker he has the whole lot.’

Caicedo also heaped praise on one other Chelsea star, Andrey Santos, claiming the Brazilian is commonly probably the greatest players in training.

Santos has made 35 appearances for Chelsea this season and featured heavily since his former Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior took over in January.

‘There are so much but Andrey Santos,’ Caicedo said when asked which player often impresses in training.

‘He’s so good every single day in training and now he’s doing rather well in games too so I’m so pleased for him.’

Chelsea, who lost to Newcastle United last trip, will attempt to overturn a three-goal deficit when PSG visit Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

‘I feel this week was difficult for us,’ Pedro said ahead of the visit of Champions League holders PSG.

‘We all know our strengths, we still imagine because we showed within the Club World Cup after we won 3-0. The group imagine, the manager believes, the fans should imagine as well.’

Chelsea boss Rosenior added: ‘In case you take a look at the sport in isolation and the scoreline, we were punished by excellent players for our own mistakes.

‘We now have been undone in games by those moments. We will’t make mistakes tomorrow.

‘We now have to recollect PSG are European champions for a reason but we all know we are able to compete.’
