Bayley finally got her long-awaited showdown with AJ Lee on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, and he or she took to social media afterward to pay tribute to her opponent.
As we previously reported here on eWn, Lee successfully retained the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley on Monday’s episode. The match had been one Bayley had been hoping for over an extended time period, and he or she later shared her thoughts on each the bout and Lee in a post on Instagram. She wrote,
“To me, AJ has had such a special impact on the industry and heavily on women’s wrestling due to who she is outside of the ring. (Not to remove from how ANNOYINGLY smooth she STILL is after being away for 10 years.) (Also, how does she have even MORE abs? Wtf)
Friendship aside…I’ve told the story again and again and I promise I’m not over exaggerating. But when I never had the conversation with AJ back in 2013 where she told me to remain true to who I’m, I don’t know if I might’ve made it this far. I don’t even know if I might’ve made it past my first month in NXT. So, losing the match sucks. But sharing the ring again with someone who saw me for who I used to be, uplifted me, believed in me, and has supported me ever since, that was the magic. (I texted her earlier and said I didn’t need to send a novel. Because I used to be embarrassed and here I’m.) THAT is the magic that’ll keep me fighting to search out one other road to Wrestlemania. Because if I’m staying true to who I’m, THEN I CAN’T STOPPPPPPPPPPPP
@theajmendez, you’re NEVER….and I need you to read this fastidiously and really focus…..you’re never allowed to go away. We must giggle together on the monitor til we have now to essentially break out our walkers ????????????????. Thanks. Bye. Don’t bring this up later”
