Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, based on reports.
The 28-year-old has been a pivotal figure for Newcastle since he joined the club in a £40 million deal from Lyon in 2022.
The Brazil international is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and Newcastle have won just two of their 16 Premier League games without him of their side since his arrival 4 years ago.
In line with Reuters, United are actually in discussions with Newcastle over an €80m (£69m) deal for Guimaraes but interest from Real Madrid threatens to complicate the move.
The report adds that Casemiro, who is about to depart Old Trafford this summer when his contract expires, has personally beneficial his Brazil teammate Guimaraes to United as his ‘ideal successor’.

Madrid, nevertheless, are also available in the market for a brand new central midfielder this summer and Carlo Ancelotti, who’s currently the pinnacle coach of Brazil’s national side, has also spoken highly of Guimaraes in discussions together with his former club.

Guimaraes’ current contract with Newcastle is because of expire in 2028.
Earlier this week, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was also denied suggestions that Sandro Tonali could also look to depart St James’ Park this summer.
‘The individual that matters essentially the most is Sandro. All I’ve ever seen from him is someone who is completely committed,’ Howe said.
‘Very selfless at times, he’s here for the team, not for himself. Forget the noise around him, he’s just fully committed.’
