Charles Oliveira says he ‘made it look easy’ against Max Holloway
Two weeks on from UFC 326, Charles Oliveira is incredibly happy with his performance against Max Holloway.
‘Do Bronx’ believes the fighters trashing his ‘flawless’ win are simply jealous of what he achieved over five rounds against top-of-the-line featherweights of all time.
“I got here in to fight a man that no person had dominated, no person had taken down,” Oliveira said in Portuguese during an interview with Olhar da Luta. “Everyone who took him down, he would hit the mat and get right back up after which go on to do what he does, point down with 10 seconds left and knock them out.
“I got here right into a fight where, with all due respect, I made it look easy. The very best hands, one of the best kicks, I used to be the one landing. My ground game was flawless. He defended, sure, but my ground was impeccable.
“There wasn’t a single moment where things got bad for me. I used to be the one who called him to the middle and began landing. My hands got through. The one punch he landed hit my shoulder, and that’s the one which threw me off balance.
“And I got criticized for not brawling. I got criticized for it being all ground. I believe when skilled fighters say that was a foul fight, that’s jealousy. To dominate a man like Max Holloway for five rounds, which I believe should’ve all been 10-8 rounds given the extent of control, after which say I didn’t stand and trade. I don’t know what they need.”
