Colby Covington’s ex-teammate offers to grant his UFC White House wish: ‘He’s scared, but I’m here’

If the UFC wants so as to add a seventh fight to the White House lineup, there might be a solution to fit Colby Covington in.

The previous interim UFC welterweight champion was not pleased to see his name omitted from the national celebration in Washington D.C. this June.

As one in every of United States President Donald Trump’s favorite fighters and largest supporters, Covington thought he was a shoo-in for the event. But he was nowhere to be seen when the complete UFC White House card was unveiled during UFC 326.

‘Chaos’ claims the promotion didn’t offer him a fight, but one fighter he’s aware of has put his name forward to grant Covington’s White House wish.

Santiago Ponzinibbio offers to ‘beat up’ Colby Covington at UFC White House

Bo Nickal says Covington rejected their fight, disputing the suggestion that the polarizing welterweight was not given a possibility to get on the June 14 lineup.

The decorated wrestler and current UFC middleweight prospect has not given up hope of sharing the cage with ‘Chaos’, despite having a clash with Kyle Daukaus confirmed for the White House.

But Nickal isn’t the just one willing to face off with Covington this summer.

Like most of the ex-interim champ’s former teammates, Santiago Ponzinibbio is keen to get his hands on Covington.

“Colby Covington is asking to fight on the White House, and I’m right down to fight him there or in every other card,” Ponzinibbio told MMA Fighting.

“I beat you up within the gym, and I can do it again on the White House,” he added.

However the Argentine isn’t confident of receiving a positive response from Covington, whom he formerly trained with at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.

“Colby will say ‘no’ because he’s scared, but I’m here to fight,” Ponzinibbio said.

“He keeps calling out fighters who know they’ve fights booked. If he’s down for it, I’m ready. Just say where and I’ll be there to beat the c— out of him.”

Each ‘Chaos’ and ‘Argentine Dagger’ have struggled for winning form in recent times.

Covington’s 2022 win over Jorge Masvidal was his last time exiting the Octagon victorious. Since then, the 38-year-old has lost consecutive fights against Leon Edwards and Joaquin Buckley.

Ponzinibbio has also faced defeat in three of his last 4 fights, including brutal knockout losses by the hands of Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez.
