Harry Maguire has tipped Ruben Amorim to have an ‘amazing profession’ after his Manchester United exit.

Amorim was sacked by United in January with a record of 24 wins in 63 games in charge at Old Trafford.

The 41-year-old faced constant criticism during his time at United over his formation and his decisions to play Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role and keep Kobbie Mainoo on the bench.

But Maguire believes Amorim has ‘great ideas’ and believes the Portuguese will ‘win many, many football matches’ together with his next club.

‘I believe Ruben was really good with me. I just about played every game under Ruben after I was fit,’ Maguire told The Mirror.

‘I don’t really have much bad to say about Ruben. I actually like Ruben, I believe he’s got great ideas. The ideas just didn’t work at Manchester United.

‘I do consider he’ll go on and have a tremendous profession, and his next club he’ll probably go and win many, many football matches.

‘It just didn’t click or work and I believe us as players have gotten to take a number of responsibility for that as well.

‘But I believe he has led the club in a direction, and I do think he deserves a number of credit for that, where he’s built a superb, solid squad and I do consider that he deserves credit for that.

‘I spoke to him when he left. He wished us all one of the best. I’m sure he would have been upset, but I do know he’s still really, really young and I’m sure he’s going to go on to great things in management.’

United at the moment are within the driving seat to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League following a powerful run of form under Michael Carrick.

And Maguire believes the previous United midfielder must be under strong consideration from the club’s hierarchy to increase his stay at Old Trafford.

‘Listen, Carrick coming in, he’s been amazing. He speaks really, rather well. He’s tactically very, excellent,’ Maguire said.

‘He’s brought in some amazing staff. Steve Holland, amazing to bring his experience in and someone he can lean on.

‘He’s got Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans there helping the younger defenders on the club and all of the defenders giving us suggestions.

‘Listen, it’s lower than us. I believe there’s seven games left. We’ve put ourselves in an amazing position. I believe we’ve got to complete the season strong, and I believe he should go right into the combo of the opposite candidates and let the method begin.

‘I’m sure it’ll do and I’m sure it’s going to be a radical process, and it’s going to be an enormous summer. We all know that for Manchester United. We’d like bodies in, bodies to assist the squad. We all know that. We’d like improvement within the squad. We’d like more bodies. It’s going to be an enormous recruitment within the management department, and I’m sure that the hierarchy will get it right.’
