Jason Cundy fears Chelsea’s flawed transfer policy means they’ve allowed a player with the potential to play for Real Madrid to go away the club for just £28million.
The Blues’ Clearlake owners are under the highlight again following a worrying run of form that has seen them crash out of Europe and lose significant ground within the race for Champions League qualification.
Last weekend’s morale-sapping 3-0 defeat at Everton represented one other blow for rookie manager Liam Rosenior who has now presided over five defeats within the last seven matches in all competitions.
The choice to oust Enzo Maresca in January already looks to have been the flawed one even when Chelsea maintain their current manager’s position isn’t under threat, no matter how the remaining of the campaign pans out.
Whether they may remain true to their word stays to be seen but, in any case, Rosenior appears to be the most recent manager to be affected by a transfer strategy that has seen Chelsea refuse to sign experienced players and lose some their best homegrown players.
Lewis Hall actually matches the latter category with the 21-year-old thriving at Newcastle to the extent whereby he could well start for England on the upcoming World Cup in the summertime.

Cundy, meanwhile, believes it won’t be long until Newcastle are fielding offers from Europe’s elite clubs and wouldn’t be surprised to see the defender snapped up by Real.
‘I might say so,’ said Cundy when asked who would start at left-back for Thomas Tuchel’s England side on the World Cup.
‘Nico O’Reilly’s had an awesome spell as well…they’re technically each midfielders, Hall was a midfielder at Chelsea.
‘I feel that consistently, Lewis Hall has been, indisputably, for me, one of the best English left back within the country.
‘He has had an excellent season, he’s top drawer all around the pitch. He attacks, his positional sense, his weight of cross, his pass, his energy levels.
‘He knows when to support the wide man, knows when to overlap, he’s an excellent player.

‘Lewis Hall, from once I saw him at Chelsea to now…I feel he could actually move to a top 5 or 6 club on the planet.
‘I feel he’s got that in him, I’m not joking, he could possibly be at Real Madrid. I feel he could possibly be that good.
‘It’s an enormous statement, but I’ve seen him develop and Newcastle fans won’t thank me for saying this, but he really is that good.
‘I feel he could [go on to play for Real Madrid]. You consider other left-backs around the globe, we’ll see this summer where he really is.
‘He’s top, top drawer.’
