One in all the promotion’s biggest stars wants absolutely nothing to do with what’s being touted as their biggest event ever.
This coming Saturday, Israel Adesanya returns to the Octagon after over a 12 months out of motion when he takes on Joe Pyfer within the UFC Seattle primary event.
At one cut-off date, ‘The Last Stylebender’ was widely thought to be one in all the most important stars within the promotion and would’ve been a shoo-in for the upcoming UFC White House event.
Nonetheless, despite his recent three-fight losing skid, the 36-year-old has explained why he has zero interest in having anything to do with the historic event.
Israel Adesanya: Things have modified regarding UFC White House event
Earlier this 12 months, the previous UFC middleweight champion stated that he could be concerned with competing on the event if fans were in attendance.
For that to have happened, he would likely have needed to fight at first of the 12 months and pick up a giant win to earn his spot on the cardboard.
Despite that, just a couple of months out from what’s being promised to be one in all the most important combat sports events of all time, Adesanya has explained why he isn’t any longer concerned with the event in any respect.
“I used to be only interested because on the time, the world was different but now with the way in which things are, it’s not likely something I’m (concerned with). Yeah, I won’t even go and watch it there, I’ll watch it from the comfort of my very own house in Latest Zealand,” Adesanya told Complex.
Adesanya isn’t the just one who’s tired of the marquee event as longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan has called the event a ‘gimmick’.
On several occasions, Rogan has expressed his dismay with the event, stating that it’s a possible security risk attributable to the timing of the event.
The promotion is seemingly undeterred by potential risks as it can likely include a substantial amount of security.
This past Saturday on the UFC London post-fight press conference, Dana White was asked whether or not they are considering moving their upcoming event in Abu Dhabi, which White claimed they are usually not.
