Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma played an excellent knock within the IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 2. He attacked aggressively in the facility play, especially against Varun Chakravarthy, scoring 24 runs in a single over (not counting a large).
Abhishek began the over with an enormous six within the fifth over, smashing a flighted ball over long-on into the gang. He then hit one other six over extra cover on the third ball and followed it up with three consecutive boundaries, completely dominating the over.

Explosive start for Sunrisers Hyderabad vs KKR
Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a terrific start after Ajinkya Rahane, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, selected to bowl first within the IPL 2026 match. Head played aggressively, scoring 46 runs off 21 balls with three sixes and 6 fours. The opening pair added 82 runs in only 34 balls before Kartik Tyagi broke their partnership.
Soon after, Blessing Muzarabani picked up two big wickets within the ninth over, dismissing captain Ishan Kishan (14 off 9) and Abhishek. Anukul Roy then removed the in-form Aniket Verma for only one run. On the time of writing, SRH were 118/4 in 9.2 overs, with Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy batting.
Each teams are searching for their first win in IPL 2026. KKR and SRH lost their opening matches by six wickets to Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru respectively. Overall, KKR have a robust record against SRH with 20 wins in comparison with 10, but SRH had crushed KKR by 110 runs of their last meeting in IPL 2025.
